Frequently Asked Questions

Everything owners ask us most often. Still stuck? Email support@altitudefans.com or call +1 (833) 888-FANS.
What size fan suits what room?

Suggested room-size guide: up to 75 sq ft: 29-36 in; 76-144 sq ft: 36-42 in; 144-225 sq ft: 44-50 in; 225-400 sq ft: 50-54 in; over 400 sq ft: 56-60+ in or multiple fans. Altitude's launch range spans 24-60 in.

What ceiling height is needed? When choose Savannah flush mount?

Fan blades should be at least 7 ft above the floor. Savannah is the flush-mount option for lower ceilings where a downrod is not desirable; downrod models are better where additional ceiling-to-fan clearance is available.

Do downrod models work on sloped/vaulted ceilings? Adapter included?

Many Altitude downrod models support sloped ceilings. The permitted angle varies by model, so check the product manual for the exact limit and whether an additional adapter or longer downrod is needed.

What downrod lengths ship, and are longer ones available?

Most downrod models include a 6-in downrod. Check the product page or manual for the exact included length. Longer-downrod availability varies by model.

What does a customer need to run Matter smart fans? Hub/bridge/Wi-Fi?

Use a Matter-compatible app such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home and follow the Matter pairing guide (PDF) using the fan's Matter QR or numeric setup code. A compatible Matter controller or home hub may be required depending on the ecosystem and features used. Wi-Fi and Bluetooth should be enabled during setup. For Apple Home, a HomePod or Apple TV can serve as the home hub for remote access and automations.

Which ecosystems: Alexa, Google Home, Apple Home, SmartThings?

Apple Home, Amazon Alexa and Google Home are supported. Other Matter-compatible apps may also work. SmartThings compatibility has not been specifically confirmed.

Is there an app? What is it called?

There is no proprietary Altitude app for these fans. Customers add the fan through their chosen Matter-compatible smart-home app, such as Apple Home, Amazon Alexa or Google Home.

Every fan lists remote included. Is wall control available?

Most Altitude fans come with a handheld remote, and Matter smart models can also be controlled through your smart-home app. Tritour uses pull chains instead of a remote. Do not use a generic wall speed control or dimmer with any Altitude fan — a standard wall switch may be used as the power on/off disconnect.

Can two fans be grouped or controlled together?

On compatible remote-controlled models, pairing procedures allow multiple fans to be controlled from the same remote. For Matter smart models, grouping and room control depend on your smart-home ecosystem. Tritour uses pull chains rather than a handheld remote.

Practical DC vs AC difference?

DC models provide six speeds with remote control and are designed for efficient, quiet operation. Farmdale and Tritour are our two AC families; both are 3-speed — Farmdale with a handheld remote and Tritour with pull chains.

Are the fans reversible for winter?

Yes. Altitude fan models support seasonal reverse operation. Stop the fan before changing direction and follow the model's remote or control instructions.

How many speeds?

Most launch families are 6-speed. Farmdale and Tritour are 3-speed.

How quiet are they / dB?

Altitude fans are designed for quiet operation — most models use DC motors, which run quietly at every speed. We do not currently publish numeric decibel ratings.

Are lights dimmable?

Most lighted models are dimmable. Tritour is non-dimmable, and Skylark has no light. See the Specifications tab on each product page for model-level details.

Is color temperature selectable?

Most LED models offer selectable color temperature. Many Matter smart families offer 2700–6500K six-step control; Gossamer, Laritza, Tritour and Arlette use 3000K/4000K/5000K; Farmdale is 2700K. Skylark has no light.

Is LED replaceable or integrated?

Most lighted fans use integrated LED or light-kit assemblies. Farmdale is the exception — it uses three LED bulbs. For replacement integrated light-kit parts, contact Altitude support with your model or SKU.

Can a light kit be added later to Skylark?

No. Skylark is designed as a fan without a light, and no add-on light kit is available for the current model.

Which fans can go on covered patio vs indoors?

Indoor only: Gossamer, Tritour and Farmdale. Covered Outdoor / Damp Rated: Laritza, Skylark, Trinity, Banyan, Mighty Condor, Dragonfly, Solo, Dawn, BOCA II, Sakai, Troy, Arlette, Moxy and Savannah.

Can any be exposed to direct rain?

No. Our outdoor-rated fans are damp rated for covered outdoor spaces and should not be exposed to direct rain.

Coastal / salt-air restrictions?

Our fans do not carry a marine or coastal-use rating, and the warranty excludes finish changes caused by environmental or coastal conditions such as rust, corrosion, tarnish, fading or peeling. Use protected placement, and contact support before choosing a fan for a coastal application.

DIY or electrician?

Installation must follow the installation manual (available on each product page under Specifications) and local electrical code. Use a fan-rated outlet box or support. If you are not experienced with electrical work, use a qualified or licensed electrician.

How long does installation take?

Installation time varies by ceiling, outlet box, wiring and installer experience, so we do not publish a fixed installation time.

Can fan replace existing light fixture on same wiring?

Potentially yes, but only if the electrical box and support are rated for ceiling-fan use and the wiring and ceiling conditions meet code. A standard light-fixture box may need replacement.

Do you offer/recommend installation service?

Altitude does not currently offer a direct installation service. We recommend using a qualified local electrician or ceiling-fan installer.

Warranty term and coverage?

The fan motor is covered for the lifetime of the original purchaser. Other components are covered for two years, excluding glass or acrylic blades. Proof of purchase is required. Removal, reinstallation and warranty-return shipping are the customer's responsibility.

How make a warranty claim?

Contact Altitude support with proof of purchase and product or order details. Phone: 1-833-888-FANS (3267). Email: support@altitudefans.com.

Are replacement parts available?

Replacement parts may be available by model. Contact Altitude support with the model or SKU to confirm availability.

What if fan arrives damaged?

If a fan arrives damaged, contact Altitude support within 3 business days of delivery with the order details and photos of the product and packaging before returning anything. Photos are required, and Altitude will review the claim against available carrier photos/evidence before advising next steps.

Where ship, how long, cost?

Standard service covers the contiguous 48 U.S. states. Orders received before 1 PM CST are targeted for same-day shipment, with typical transit of 5-7 business days. UPS or FedEx are used for parcel shipments and approved LTL carriers for freight. Orders over $1,500 ship free; shipping below $1,500 varies by destination and order. Alaska, Hawaii, Puerto Rico, the U.S. Virgin Islands and similar destinations require an alternate contiguous-U.S. address or a separate quote. We do not deliver to PO boxes, and customers must provide a complete deliverable street address.

Returns window/condition/who pays?

Returns may be requested within 30 days of delivery. For standard returns, items must be in original packaging and sellable condition; the customer pays return shipping and must provide tracking. A 25% restocking fee applies when the item was received in good condition and the customer still chooses to return it. No restocking fee applies to an unopened-box return, a defect confirmed by Altitude Customer Service, or a verified damaged-on-arrival claim. Damaged-on-arrival claims must be reported within 3 business days with photos of the product and packaging. Clearance items are non-returnable unless confirmed defective. Approved DTC Shopify refunds are issued back to the original payment method and are typically processed within 1-2 business days after receipt and inspection.

Canada or international shipping?

Standard shipping is not currently confirmed for Canada or other international destinations. Contact Altitude support for availability and a shipping quote before ordering.

Trade/contractor/bulk pricing?

A formal trade or contractor program is not currently published. Contact Altitude sales or support for project or volume pricing.
